My name is ”Captain” Jimmy Taylor and I would first like to thank you for taking the time to visit our website to see what we have to offer. Southern Wind Charters is a family owned and veteran operated business located in Santa Rosa Beach FL. My wife Kate, runs the business with me and is currently the sitting Commander of Southern Wind Charters. Our two children, Lily and Jack, are in charge of product development. While not at school or with friends they are on the boat telling me if the new spots hold fish or not.

I grew up in Pennsylvania spending a lot of time fishing for trout in the Yellow Breeches or for bass in the ponds at the golf course where my dad was the golf pro. In 1999 I moved to Seattle, WA and began working at a seafood market where I was eventually offered a job as a deck hand on a commercial fishing boat in Alaska. Fishing the Alaskan waters made it difficult for me to want to fish anywhere but in saltwater.

We relocated to the Destin FL area in 2011 when my Army unit moved here from North Carolina. I was back close to saltwater fishing, scalloping, boating, snorkeling, and paddle boarding.

After retiring from the military I couldn’t think of anything I would rather do than start a fishing charter to share my love of fishing and being on the water with others.
